Terms of Service
Effective: September 12, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of canadatest.ca (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The Service
canadatest.ca is a web-based study aid for the Canadian citizenship test. It provides chapter-based study content, flashcards, quizzes, and timed practice tests derived from the official Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship guide published by the Government of Canada. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Canada.
Accounts and your responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information when you register.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and for all activity under your account.
- One account per person. Do not share your account credentials.
- The Service is intended for users aged 13 and older. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age. Users under 18 should use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You must be legally capable of entering into a contract to purchase a pass. If you are under the age of majority in your province, you should use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Payments, passes, and refunds
- Passes are one-time purchases that unlock full access to the Service for a fixed period. The passes available to everyone on our pricing page are the 7-Day Pass and the 90-Day Pass. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By purchasing a pass you also agree to Stripe's terms.
- 24-hour money-back guarantee (7-Day and 90-Day Passes): If you purchased a 7-Day or 90-Day Pass and are not satisfied within 24 hours of your purchase, email support@canadatest.ca and we will issue a full refund — no questions asked.
- Pass Guarantee (7-Day and 90-Day Passes): If you purchased a 7-Day or 90-Day Pass, take the official Canadian citizenship test, and do not pass, you can choose one of two remedies:
- (a) a full refund of your pass purchase, or
- (b) a free 30-day extension of your pass, so you can keep studying for your next attempt.
How to claim. Email support@canadatest.ca within 30 days of that test date. Tell us the date you took the test and which of the two remedies you want. We will ask you to confirm details of your result before we honour a claim — normally one short reply, and we will tell you exactly what we need. We can only honour claims we are able to verify.
What has to be true. Your pass must have been purchased before your test date, and the test you are claiming for must have taken place within 120 days of your purchase. Your pass does not need to still be active on test day.
How the extension works. It adds 30 days to your pass — from its current expiry date if it is still active, or from the day we grant your claim if it has expired.
How many times you can claim. Each pass purchase carries its own guarantee, good for up to two test attempts, and each attempt can be claimed once. Any refund of your purchase — a Pass Guarantee refund, the 24-hour money-back guarantee, or a payment reversal — ends that purchase’s guarantee: remaining pass access, including any extension, ends at the time of the refund, and no further claims can be made on that purchase. In practice that means: take the extension and you can still claim a second failed attempt; take the refund and the guarantee is finished.
If your situation falls just outside these conditions — a retake that lands past the 120-day window, say — email us anyway. We review these case by case, and a free extension is often the simplest fix.
Applies to passes purchased on or after June 16, 2026. (This date does not change when we update these Terms — it is the date the Pass Guarantee started.)
- Rescue passes (email offers): From time to time we may offer short-duration passes — for example, a 2-Day or 4-Day Pass — by email to specific accounts with an upcoming test date. These passes are not sold on our pricing page and are final sale: the 24-hour money-back guarantee and the Pass Guarantee above do not apply to them. This is disclosed before you buy. It does not limit any right or remedy you have under applicable law, and our support team still reviews any problem with a rescue pass case by case.
- Refunds and other situations beyond 24 hours: If your situation falls outside the 24-hour window and outside the Pass Guarantee conditions above — including a retake that lands outside the 120-day window, or a third failed attempt after you have used both claims — email support@canadatest.ca. We review these case by case and may offer a refund or a free extension. We may also issue a refund for clear cases of technical failure, billing error, or duplicate purchase.
- Passes do not auto-renew. When a pass expires, access reverts to the free tier until you purchase a new pass or we extend your pass under the Pass Guarantee above.
Referrals
You can share a personal referral link. If someone creates an account through your link and then makes their first purchase of a 7-Day or 90-Day Pass, we add bonus days to their pass and give you a free pass of the same type.
- Rewards are pass time, never cash. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged, transferred, or refunded, and are not credit toward a future purchase.
- Total access is capped. Referral time is added to any access you already have, subject to the same overall limit that applies to stacked purchases — your pass can never be extended to end more than 365 days after the date a reward is granted. Time beyond that limit is not granted and is not carried over.
- Refunds can reverse a reward. If the purchase that triggered a reward is refunded within 48 hours of purchase — which covers our 24-hour money-back guarantee — or is reversed by a payment dispute, both the bonus days and the referrer’s free pass are withdrawn. The buyer’s bonus days always end with a refund of their purchase; a later refund — for example under the Pass Guarantee — does not withdraw the referrer’s pass.
- We may withhold or revoke rewards for abuse. That includes referring yourself, creating accounts to refer, and any other attempt to generate rewards other than by genuinely recommending the Service to someone else.
- We may change or end the program at any time. Rewards already granted are not withdrawn when the program changes, except under the refund and abuse rules above.
Ratings and comments
If you give us a rating or comments, you give us permission to use them as described in our Privacy Policy: showing them on the Service or in our marketing with your first name and province or territory, including your rating in anonymous average scores, and describing one person’s results, with the words they wrote or chose, but without their name, province or dates.
- Your words stay yours, and the permission ends when you withdraw it. The permission is non-exclusive, and you keep ownership of what you wrote. Email support@canadatest.ca and we will stop using what you wrote and remove it from our site.
- Display is on by default, and you can turn it off. The choice is shown when you submit, and you can turn it off at any time afterwards by emailing us. If you tell us you are in Quebec, nothing is shown unless you choose it at the time. Whether you have taken the official test is shown only if you choose a comment that says so. If you tell us a test did not go well, what you write then stays private and is never shown.
- We may shorten what you wrote. We will never reword it. Nothing is published unless we decide to publish it, so most responses are never shown at all.
Content ownership
Study content on the Service is derived from the Discover Canada guide, which is published by the Government of Canada. All original layout, interface, source code, and compiled databases on the Service are owned by the operators of canadatest.ca. Your purchase grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for study purposes. You do not gain ownership of the content or any right to redistribute it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share, sell, or transfer your account to anyone else.
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise bulk-download content from the Service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service beyond what is permitted by law.
- Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or the accounts of other users.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. canadatest.ca is a study aid only — it is not a guarantee of passing the citizenship test, and we make no representations about the accuracy or completeness of the official guide content we reproduce. To the maximum extent permitted by law, canadatest.ca and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. (Our Pass Guarantee is a remedy promise — a refund or a free extension, your choice — not an outcome promise. See the Payments, passes, and refunds section above.)
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, including for abusive behavior, attempted fraud, or breach of the acceptable use rules above. If we terminate your account for cause, any unused portion of a pass will not be refunded.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in British Columbia for any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service.
